It seems since I have been running the station for some time that many people have taken an interest in it. My weather station identifies itself with the
call sign AC6E-3. It is also known as AP899. My weather station was set up to allow me to determine the weather at my ranch.
The weather station is on the southeast end of my cabin. You will also notice the antenna next to it.
The system is a Dallas Semi weather system connected to a
T238 by TAPR The system is powered
by 550 watts of solar cells
and connected to 14 12 volt 60 amp hour batteries in a parallel system to make 12 volts at 840 amp hours. For those of you who are wondering
but how does it work? My weather station is connected to a radio modem. Using a ham radio protocol called AX.25 and APRS weather data is sent out
over the radio waves, and other ham operators like myself "gate" the data packets to the internet. Once on the internet, the data is stored in various
databases were it can be viewed. Below are old pictures of the station. The Cabins look a little different these days, and the antenna for the weather station is now on top of a 40 foot tower. But this gives you an idea, and I will see about putting up a few newer pictures.
